Sagres, Cabo Sao Vincente, Lagos.

A beautiful sunrise to start the day

Sagres, the south western point of Portugal and the site of the 14th Century fort that Francis Drake attacked in the quest to establish a base in this area.

Not much can grow on this exposed coast.

Looking back east from the fort, we did have lovely calm weather.

Fishing from the cliffs

Cabo Sao Vincente

Heading back to Faro we stopped in Lagos to check out the limestone beaches,
Praia Dona Ana.

Local fishermen run tours in their boats through the limestone grottos. A terrific trip.

The skilled captains take you right into the caves, despite the low and narrow openings.

Kayak trips are also available.

Light shines through underwater crevices.

The lagoon, from on the water and from above.

Too many photos, I know, but it was just so beautiful.

Back at the beach with a cold beer delivered.

Time to go home, we stopped in at Armacao de Pera, hoping to find the sand sculptures. Instead we found a lovely beach in a bit more upmarket village.

And yet another glorious sunset as we got home.
