Picos de Europa

It took 2 hours to travel the 75kms along narrow, windy and well maintained roads to get to Feuent de, our entrance point into the Picos de Europa. In several places there is wire netting attached to the rocks above to stop them falling on the road.

The telerifico at Fuente de whisks you up to the top in 3 mins, or you can walk for four hours.

There are a couple of places to stay and a hotel for refreshments about 4 kms along the track back down.

Guarding the mountains.

Our car is down there. The blue one.

There are lots of rules in the park!

Heading back home we stopped off in Potes, a cute village we passed on the way through.

Back home in Arenas de Cabrales we had diner at the Sidereria, with this natty aerator for our cider. Helen and Mke had a selection of stuffed peppers - spider crab, bonito (tuna), I had a plate of cheese.

Tomorrow is 'Cheese Festival' day.
