Las Arenas de Cabrales.

Nice slow start to the day with no activities planned, except for the cheese festivities of course. Sampled a few local cheeses at the market then headed over to the main arena where the Cabrales cheeses were being judged. Cabrales cheese is quite creamy, very blue and the flavour lingers for several hours.

We walked along the river to the next village, Poo de Cabrales and then further out of town up the hill and past the Cueves de queso (cheese cave).

Horreos used for storing grains and a useful carport.

Back in town the festivities continued with marching bands, dancing and singing. Thankfully the celebrations ended much earlier this evening.

Helen auditioned for the dancing troop.
