Well that worked out nicely despite the little mix up with suggested guides along the way. Jamil drove us from the train to meet Steve via the bus station where we purchased tickets for the trip to Chefchaouen on Monday. Steve led us through the laneways of the medina to his gorgeous home right in medina. What a perfect host...Steve took us through the workings of the house (steps, keys, steps, watch your head, steps, terrace, steps, bathroom, steps etc) suggested what we should do for the afternoon, gave us a map and has organised a medina guide for the morning after he collects us for breakfast at his guest house. We are happy.
No nighttime toilet trips for those at the top of the stairs. (Not me thank goodness)
Amed and his son have a shop on the corner near our house, our new bffs in Fes, and our signpost to get home.
First trip into the medina on our own. It feels much calmer and much less hassle than we were geared up for. In fact, dare I say it, favourite medina in Morocco so far. Lots of sights and sounds. We didn't even get lost amongst the 9000 plus laneways within the medina.
Tanneries are number one industry.
Produce (we are looking out for the automated chicken plucking spot)
One of the seven gates into the medina.
Early dinner at Cafe Clock ( yummy vego fare and a camel burger for Mike)
