Porto.

This morning I headed off into town with full intentions of joining one of the recommended walking tours around the old city. There was too much to distract me so I ended up just wandering with my map and guide book. Here are some of the themes of Porto:

Mercado Do Bolhao

Tiles and churches:
    Capella Das Almas

    Igreja de Sto Ildefonso

    Igreja dos Congregados

    Igreja do Camo

The grand master of tile work at Sao Bao train station

Lovely shopfronts

Port boats and sampling the port.

We didn't get to do a winery tour as we were a bit late in the day and all tours were fully booked or closed. So we ended up at a warehouse for exporting port where we got to sample seven different white and red ports. Very smooth.

Ribreira

And from the other side of the Douro River

The tram

A buttoned vesper

Ponte Luis 1, designed by Gustaf Eiffel. Trains a pedestrians on top, cars and pedestrians below.

What could possibly go wrong!
